KARMA YOGA –  One remarkable aspect of our 10 day retreat is the inclusion of Karma Yoga or self-less work. This is where a positive relationship between a volunteer and the task can catalyze tremendous positive change, in both the giver and the receiver. Karma Yoga is however, never performed for ones own  personal benefit.

During our Essence of Yoga retreat program guests will have numerous occasions to share their time and invaluable assistance by fulfilling certain volunteer tasks. This will facilitate a space where the locals, children and the guests can all grow together during moments of sacred connection despite cultural, lingual and economic barriers.

Asana, Meditation, Chanting, Yoga Nidra with Uttam

Uttam Ghosh was born in Rishikesh, India. His fascination for yoga developed in childhood when he experienced the ‘bhakti’ form of yoga with his grandfather. His curiosity for yoga led him to explore and study the mystic invisible life force energy of yoga. It was because of this hunger to search the depth of mystic life forces that Uttam started his spiritual journey which led him to learn and practice Kundalini, Yantra, Mantra & Tantra. Through hard work, dedication and experience, he was initiated onto the Kundalini Yoga Path by Swami Vidyananda.

Uttam teaches a wide range of Transformational Kundalini Yoga, Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga in Rishikesh. He conducts workshops around the globe concerning meditation and yoga therapy.

Asana, Satsang, Karma Yoga, Walking Tours with Abhishek

Abhishek was born and raised in the capital of India, New Delhi, to a family from Kerala, the home of Ayurveda. Teachings on Ashtanga Yoga Philosophy inspired him to utilize the benefits of yoga for a much deeper personal transformation rather than a tool for physical improvement and meditation. In 2010, Abhishek moved to U.S where he taught yoga for 5 years before coming back to India to follow his dream of dwelling in the Himalayas. He teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa, Yoga History, and Yoga Philosophy in Rishikesh. He facilitates traditional walking tours & works together with his wife and Indian organizations to create yoga therapy programs for Trauma and Human trafficking survivors.
